MØ Surprise Drops When I Was Young EP
The Danish pop star's six-track project is "all about both looking back and forward."
Following explosive buzz for her appearances on Major Lazer's hit singles "Lean On" and "Cold Water," Danish pop sensation MO has finally released a new EP, called When I Was Young, entirely free of guest artists.
The six-track project was recorded over the past few months in Copenhagen, London and New York, and sees the singer/songwriter producing her own material alongside names like Kristoffer Fogelmark, FTSE and Grant William Russell Harris.

"It's so amazing to be able to create a universe," MO says of When I Was Young, describing the recording process as a bubble of energy. "These years have been a learning process about what's important, and that's what this EP reflects. These songs were chosen instinctively, and by a gut feeling really, but they're all about both looking back and forward."

When I Was Young aptly opens with "Roots," a slow, ominous intro that builds into the EP's title track, which is signature MO–bouncy and bright, packed with weirdo electronic bursts. "Turn My Heart to Stone" layers a romantic horn above subdued, sputtering synths, while "Linking With You" is more giant and joyous. "Bb" offers a searing, pained love song, and "Run Away" closes MO's effort with a dark, guitar-rock edge.
